‘레빗소울’의 기획자인 최정미 작가는 토끼형상을 모티브로 하는 도자 피규어를 제작한다.
작품에 등장하는 오브젝트(object)들은 군상으로서 반복적인 조형미를 갖고있지만,
각각의 오브제(object): 컬러, 질감과 패턴; 미적 아름다움은 그 안에 담긴 의도된 다양성으로서 상징성: 다른 인종, 언어와 문화 속에서 우리가 느끼는 이해과 존중의 감정들을 의미한다.

오늘날, 우리는 다양한 정보와 문화에 쉽게 노출된다.
그로 인하여 공동체와 단결을 중요시 하였던 과거보다는 한 사람의 개성과 취향을 이해하게 되었고 개인의 가치와 다양한 문화를 존중하게 되었다.
'레빗소울’은 토끼형상을 모티브로 하여 다양한 문화를 대변하는 우리의 모습을 이야기한다.
최정미 작가는‘레빗소울’을 통하여 다문화 속의 조화롭고 평화로운 모습을 추상적 또는 구상적, 시각적인 컬러와 질감, 개성 짙은 캐릭터로 표현함으로서 대중과 소통하려 한다.

최정미 작가는 “사랑으로 돌보던 토끼가 어느 날 산 속에서 사라져 버린 경험과 아픔이 나에게 예술 창작의 출발점이 되었다.”고 말한다.
최정미 작가에게 토끼는 작가의 분신이자 자아의 다른 표현이다. 작가는 ‘래빗 소울(Rabbit Soul)’ 의 토끼라는 캐릭터를 만들어 자신을 투영시켜 자아를 표현하고 있다. 토끼에는 작가의 디테일한 표현과 심리적 묘사가 섬세하게 들어가 있다. 작가의 토끼는 토끼의 전형적인 특징인 귀나 얼굴이 강조되기 보다 토끼의 뒤태, 즉 엉덩이와 꼬리가 강조된 모습을 하고 있다. 이는 어쩌면 작가에게 강렬히 남아 있는 잃어버린 토끼의 마지막 모습을 상징하는 것일지도 모르겠다.
최정미 작가는 토끼를 통해서 심리적 고통을 스스로 치유해가는 과정을 표현하고 있다.  작가는 불면증과 무기력증으로 힘든 시간을 보내던 중, 우주 안에 둥둥 떠다니는 자신을 발견했다. 작가는 “마치 정지된 듯한 시간 속에 갇혀 있는 듯한 느낌을 경험했다”고 한다. 작가는 자신의 고통과 무기력한 시간들을 정면으로 마주하며 경험한 그 순간을 '무중력 댄싱(Dancing in zero gravity)' 시리즈로 탄생시켰다.
‘무중력 댄싱’ 시리즈는 인간의 심리를 우주와 무중력을 통해 표현한 작품으로, 마치 이성의 지배를 받지 않은 인간의 무의식 세계를 표현한 초현실주의 작품처럼 보인다. 무중력 이란 ‘멈춰 있음’을 뜻하기도 하지만 우리에게 영향을 주는 모든 외력으로부터의 완전한 해방감. 즉 ‘자유로움’ 일 수도 있다. ‘무중력 댄싱’ 시리즈는 토끼의 그림자 춤을 통해 끊임없이 움직이고 꿈틀대는 작가의 내면을 드러낸다. 이는 마치 보이지 않을지라도 포기하지 않는 의지는 우리 모두의 내면에 존재한다는 메시지를 전달한다.
이렇게 최정미 작가의 ‘래빗 소울’은 우리가 상상하지 못했던 토끼가 존재하는 세상을 심리적 상징을 통해 다양한 해석의 여지를 만들어 놓으면서도, 관객들이 작가가 창조한 세상 속에서 우주의 토끼로 동화되어 무중력을 경험하고 자유로움을 느끼며 좌절과 슬픔 등의 감정을 정면으로 마주할 수 있는 기회를 주고 있다.


Artist Choi Jeong Mee, says, "The experience and pain of my beloved rabbit disappearing one day in the woods became the starting point for my artistic creation." For Choi, the rabbit is both an avatar and an alternative expression of herself. She has created a character called 'Rabbit Soul' to project herself and express her identity through it. The rabbit in her work is delicately imbued with detailed expressions and psychological portrayals, emphasizing not the typical features like ears or face, but rather its backside—its buttocks and tail. This might symbolize the lasting image of the lost rabbit that remains vivid in the artist’s memory.
Choi Jeong Mee expresses the process of self-healing through psychological pain via the rabbit. During a difficult period of insomnia and lethargy, she envisioned herself floating aimlessly in space. She describes feeling as though she was trapped in a paused moment in time. Facing her pain and powerlessness head-on, she gave birth to the series 'Dancing in Zero Gravity.' This series, portraying the human psyche through the cosmos and weightlessness, appears like a surrealist work unfettered by rational thought, expressing the unconscious realm of the human mind. The notion of zero gravity signifies not only a state of pause but also a complete liberation from all external forces affecting us, perhaps representing 'freedom.' The 'Dancing in Zero Gravity' series reveals the restless, wriggling inner world of the artist through the dance of a rabbit’s shadow, conveying a message that the will to persevere exists within all of us, even if unseen.
Thus, Choi Jeong Mee's 'Rabbit Soul' creates a realm where rabbits exist in ways we could never imagine, offering various interpretations through psychological symbolism. At the same time, it allows viewers to immerse themselves in the artist-created universe as cosmic rabbits, experiencing weightlessness and freedom, and confronting emotions like frustration and sorrow head-on.
